Drawing on Walls

This is what happens when artistic people watch their surfboards get shaped with posca pens in the same room. This took Pete about one minute.

Jake's New Pin

Here are a few shots of Jake Willis's new pin tail. This particular board is 9'4'' x 23'' x 3''.

A Fireman's Fish

I finished this board towards the beginning of January for a retiring fireman. I thought that color scheme was appropriate in light of his once profession.  This board in-particular finished out at 6'2'' x 21 x 2 11/16 and was equipped with two hand foiled 1/4'' wood keel fins.

A Pig Project

Most recently in surfboard manufacturing people have been looking to the past to guide there future. This endeavor deemed "Three Little Piggies" looks at a 60's era Hobbie for inspiration and influence. Here are a few shots from the early stages.

Action in the Shaping Room

A few new additions to the pile of templates. A new keel 5'10x20 3/4x2 1/2 with 10'' tips and a rocket quad, 5'8x20x2 1/2 with 9.5'' tips. All with V and double concave out the tail.

Classic Square Tail

Came across this stock photo of a board I built last spring. This is a full outline of my classic square tail in its intended dimensions, 9'10'' x 24 x 19 x 16.5. The rail design is a modern soft rail, 40/60 and turned up in the nose and tail for maximum hold. The wet sanded gloss that this board has adds to its capability to achieve great speeds. Add a few layers of 8 oz. volan and that extra weight transfers into momentum resulting in stability and speed.

Oldie but a Goodie

This board is a compilation of scoop tail theory, reverse rocker, a full outline all anchored by a 10.5 inch rudder fin. The end result is a board that is loose off the tail and a sidewalk on the nose.

Twinzer

This board was made for a talented surfer and musician named Marc Gould. He can be seen ripping at shores on a daily basis.  This board is the first of many twinzers, at 6'2'' x 21 1/2 x 2 7/8 it allows any surfer to up his or her wave count while providing a unique feeling of drive and release. Also check out his music at www.bedfordgrovemusic.com.
